Jane Addams Resource Corporation is a non-profit organization located in the Ravenswood industrial corridor, on the north side of Chicago. It offers education and training for lower-income adults to help them achieve economic self-sufficiency. The original identity that JARC was using prior to this design was a montage of images which didn't work at varying scales, didn't reproduce well, and most of all, failed to present the organization with the dignity and sophistication that it deserves. This logo is abstract but works from the most basic building block: the square. This pure icon as a metaphor for construction, building, and learning is complemented by custom typography and bold, vibrant color; this reflects JARC's niche and diverse role in the community.
