Wing & Groove Theatre Company put on a production of William Shakespeare's play, "Much Ado About Nothing," but put a twist on the setting; it took place just after World War II. The client had a strong association with the well-known photograph of a sailor kissing a nurse after returning to the States, and so I recreated this scene in a small digital illustration. Because the play itself is a romantic comedy about deception, the design reflects this through the use of a symmetrical question mark to form a heart. The busy linework within the heart is intended to represent the confusion and complex emotions of the characters. The typography is a blend of old and new; the unicase of Filosofia seemed to complement the approach of the theater group in its blending of historical theater and more modern setting.
